WHY SEE A PSYCHOLOGIST
October 14, 2020
Someone asked me the other day what the point is of seeing a psychologist. Surely, most people have enough resources at their disposal that they can figure out for themselves how to live their lives?
I agree with this... to a point.
In my experience, when someone gives you advice, generally, it is the best advice for them. They are telling you what they would want to hear if they found themselves in the situation you are in.
It is true - only you know what is best for you. The tough part is asking the right questions to get to your inner wisdom and that’s where someone like me comes in. My value is in the kinds of questions I ask.
I am quite clear with clients. I do not have all the answers and I am not in the business of advice-giving or quick fixes. Instead, I am an expert in listening between the lines, asking pertinent questions and helping my clients to figure things out for themselves.
You may be the expert on yourself but that does not mean that you have to do it alone.
The right question could be just what you need to figure out the right path.
