Andrea Krygier, Registered Psychologist

With over 30 years of experience in psychodynamic psychotherapy, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate the complexities of high-performance demands, leadership challenges, and personal transformation.

My early years of practice in Canada provided me with extensive clinical experience in the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) sector, particularly within Alberta’s oil and gas industry. I had the privilege of working closely with executives, CEOs, managers, and team leaders, as well as professionals in high-stakes roles—school principals, physicians, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and correctional officers, among others. The common thread in these environments is the immense psychological pressure associated with leadership, decision-making, and maintaining peak performance.

Clinical Approach & Areas of Expertise

My therapeutic style is eclectic, integrating psychodynamic principles with solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral techniques to optimize outcomes. I specialize in:

Performance Anxiety & Setback Repositioning – Helping individuals regain confidence after professional or personal setbacks.

Leadership Development & Mental Agility – Strengthening resilience, adaptability, and strategic thinking.

Burnout Prevention & Capacity Building – Enhancing emotional endurance and stress management.

Ego-Based Pressure & Expectations – Shifting the mindset from perfectionism to self-acceptance and sustainable success.

Post-Success Depression – Addressing the sense of emptiness that can accompany achievement and helping clients reframe success as an ongoing journey.

I primarily work with executives, professionals, and high achievers who struggle with the mental toll of high-performance environments. Many clients seek guidance in navigating the internal conflicts that arise from ego-driven expectations, the fear of failure, or the pressure to maintain an unrelenting standard of excellence.

A key aspect of my work Is helping individuals shift from a rigid, perfectionist mindset—where setbacks are seen as personal failures—to a more dynamic, resilient perspective. True mastery requires the ability to transform obstacles into opportunities, to recognize that failure is not an endpoint but a catalyst for evolution.

The Psychology of High Performance

Performance struggles often stem from deeper psychological roadblocks, sometimes rooted in unresolved early-life experiences. Through introspective work, I help clients uncover these hidden influences and reframe them in ways that enhance their present-day performance.

Additionally, I incorporate mindfulness and breathwork techniques to restore balance after high-intensity performance peaks. In my work with team leaders and athletes, I provide psychoeducation on individual vs. collective mentality, fostering trust, communication, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Sustained success is not just about talent or strategy—it’s about mental agility. Many high performers unintentionally sabotage their potential by succumbing to vanity, prestige obsession, or an identity too rigidly tied to external validation. My approach encourages a mental shift: from the paralysis of “I should know it all” to the creative audacity of adaptability, playfulness, and strategic risk-taking.

What to Expect in Therapy

Our first session will be an in-depth exploration—I ask a lot of questions because I am deeply curious about my clients’ unique life trajectories. Understanding the nuances of your experiences allows me to tailor my approach and maximize the potential for meaningful change.

Throughout our work together, you can expect unconditional positive regard, respect, and unwavering support. Therapy is a space for self-actualization, where you align your values, talents, abilities, and passions with your life’s performance. My goal is to help you uncover and unleash your full potential—because at the end of the day, success is not about avoiding failure but about mastering the art of resilience, reinvention, and the courage to keep playing!!
